The Twin Fortresses

The island is Sentosa island. The twin fortresses are located on Pulau Blakang Mati. Theyguard the wstern island. It is named after Sir Keppel.

Machine gun post

This is called the Machine Gun Post. I think it was to provide protection for the soldiers. It was also to protect the 12-pounder guns on Berlayer Point.

Dragon's teeth gate

It is batu berlayar or "sailing rock" famous as a hideout for pirates. It was at the southernmost tip of temasek (modern singapore).

Question 1

The tunnel isinteresting, historical, although it is a bit creepy.it was used to store oil, oil lamps, ammunition and bomb shells. They used pulleys to haul the shells. They also had ventilation shafts.

Fort pasir panjang

The fort was first built in 1878. It was chosen as it was situated on the hill which overlooked the western approaches to the harbour. It was actually selected and planned in 1848 but building only took place in 1878. It was built to protect the inhabitants and the trade of the colony.
